Small Sided Blitz’s that have a training element

Coiste Oiliuna have launched a pilot scheme whereby clubs 5 clubs are invited to a blitz, 4 clubs play a match one club receives training and then after every match the clubs are rotated, ensuring each club plays 4 games and also has a training session. The scheme is being run in Mallow and Ballinacurra by Noel Crowley, Paudie Kissane, Brian Murphy & Colin Santry, so far the scheme has been hugely popular with both children and mentors and Coiste Oiliuna hope to have similar blitz's throughout the county during the year.

For clubs wishing to run blitz's on the same format its simple:

Example: 5 teams entered blitz.
4 teams play matches 1 team is trained by members of host club which means players hear a fresh voice and coaches learn new techniques. After the first match is over the clubs switch around and a new club gets trained by the host club with the club coaches looking for new drills etc. Every club gets 4 games and trained on the same day. Matches only have to be 15 to 20 minutes long.

The club hosting the next blitz then provides the coaching for the day rotating between the clubs.

This format is a good way for coaches to learn new idea's and also for children to listen to different voices.
