Foundation Level Courses

The first step on the coaching ladder is to complete a Foundation Level course.  The Foundation Level is primarily geared to cater for Coaches from Under-12 downwards.

All Coaches, provided they are over the age of 16, will be obliged to commence by taking the Foundation Level course.  The course is completed over 6 – 8 hours, usually over 2 – 3 nights or 1 weekend and involves practical coaching assignments together with some theoretical content.

Areas covered include :

Physical Literacy

  • Development of agility, balance and coordination
  • Development of running, jumping, throwing and catching
Skills Development
  • Covers how to coach a skill in football and hurling including the key technical elements involved
Games
  • Different types of games have emerged in recent years to improve players development, here coaches will see first hand the latest ideas.
